Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
