Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
